FileExplorer App Reviews

Awesome

This is one of my most used tools. Allows me access to all my files on my server side shares for both uploads and downloads. Used it connecting to printers, FreeNAS CIFS, samba CIFS, and Windows shares just fine. Mainly use it to add attachments to emails or upload files from emails.

Was working

Use on apple devices and time machine. Was working great then all of a sudden it wont let me load files from iPad to time machine.

Perfect iPad hookup

This is the one. Does what I want every time. Highly recommend.

Very Powerful Tool

I use it to back up my photos onto my home media server, and manage my existing backups from school and work. I like that it detects network shares automatically on the local network, its so much better and more efficient then the iTunes wifi sync. Definitely worth the money!

Works great!

Streams perfectly from a SMB server running my on a Raspberry Pi. It could use some picture in picture support though

Great app

Excellent interface to connect iPads and iPhones to an external server/personal cloud via home wifi network. Excellent way to store and retrieve large video and movie files. So far works flawlessly. All you need is the IP address of the external drive.

Use it daily

Fills the gap between iOS and Windows computers to allow easy transfer within my home network. Only two things I wish it had. 1. Would be nice if it learned or had a setting for other ASCII text file types. I use it to view .LOG and .BAT files a lot, and it always asks what to do with those [Text Viewer] 2. I couldnt find any way to re-arrange the SHARED location listing, even in Edit mode.

Excellent File Manager

After trying to use other file managers, I keep coming back to FE. Its powerful, helpful for new connections and easy to use. I added tvOS version on ATV. Although I dont use as much as iOS, it is great to have. Kudos to developer for these two outstanding apps.

Absolutely worth the money.

Stream videos from network computers, access stuff from google drive, browse local networks, store files on phone, all works perfectly. Helps me with network trouble shooting when I don’t have access to a second computer. I love this app, very useful, must have.

Very useful and stable

I got this app to gain access to my network file server. I couldnt get my iPhone to see it since iPhones are so tight about file system stuff. So getting this app solved that issue nicely. I can also pull specific files into a new local storage ability it adds without having to do a stupid time consuming PC synchronize. Its a simple app to use but opens up the phones power greatly. I can put new music on my server and play it instantly with this app. No iTunes required. I make my own music and can sometimes do 5 or 10 mix downs in a day trying to fine tune it. It really really sucked having to synch to iTunes to play each new mix down. This app fixed that horrible iPhone/iPod aggravating forced limitation. You Apple Jerks!!! ...but I digress... My only complaint which is true for just about everything other than iTunes Player is; there is no EQ settings that apply to audio that you play in it ( or any app other than iTunes Player). However, the folder playlist is cool with the repeat single or repeat all feature. I use this app a ton once I tried it. Im hooked on using it all the time now. It has other features I havent used yet that are probably equally cool. But it fixed my stock iPhone issues in an instant. I recommend you get this. You wont be sorry.

Great App

I got it to see the playable media on my computer. It does a great job seeing the shared folders. It plays most everything, but doesnt support all audio formats. Pretty good though.

Really awesome App

If built in video player can support grab sub titles from subscene or opensubtitle ,,that will be great

PIP

Please add picture in picture support for iPad Pro with video! PLEASE!!!

Really wish this app can allow files to "Open in other app"

Dont get me wrong, I rate this app 1 star only to remind the dev how importantly it is to allow "open in other app". I know some type of file (.txt) in this app allows user to open in other app...but most not! Especially for .zip files! UPDATE: Well, I just found another one really serious problem: This app CANNOT properly read the last song of a CUE, if the corresponding FLAC or APE is a single file. Devs, if you are reading this, please fix this issue asap. Many thanks! Besides, it will be really cool to have some 10-band equalizers in the music player of this app.

Indispensable tool with a bugged and sloppy UI.

This app is almost a necessity for anyone with an iOS device who needs to regularly access files from a local network. Although the free version was functional enough I purchased it to support its development. There are some nits to pick. Some options such as the maximum cache size limit dont work and the app quickly grow to use over a GB of space. Some of the buttons are also inconsistent and the image viewer could use some work. All in all though, a file browser is a necessary tool for any iPad and this app is one of the best, better than "Documents" in my opinion which awkwardly downloads a local copy of everything you access over the network instead of using a seamless cache like FileExplorer.

Very good!

This app is very useful to me because I frequently exchange my files between my computer and my cellphone.

I used it to hack Wolf Online, and it worked!!!

No SMBv2 or newer support?

Other than only seeming to support a very old SMB protocol, the app is solid. Developer, please please please start supporting SMBv3. SMBv1 is extremely outdated and should not be used anywhere.

Very Reliable

I use it with a Seagate Personal Cloud. Seagates software for it is terrible, but File Explorer is a great substitute. Fast and reliable.

Zippo

Tried this app - cannot access files from remote computer. Keep getting "permission denied". Cannot find a solution any where on the web. Not worth it!!!!!
